Real Writers Started Just Like You

June 7, 2026

a small reassurance

Every famous writer was once a kid who thought their story was kind of bad.

They wrote it anyway. That's actually the whole trick. The writers you've heard of are the kids who kept writing even when they weren't sure they were good. The kids who quit because they thought they weren't good — you never heard of them, because they quit. Don't quit. We talk about why feeling unsure means you care, not that you're bad at it, and the three things real writers do when they feel like they aren't real writers yet.

Feeling unsure · what it actually means

You feel It actually means
I'm not good at this I care about this
This is bad I'm still learning, which is normal
I should stop I should keep going, just for today
Real writers aren't like me Real writers were exactly like you

Three things real writers do

  • Write today, even when it feels bad.
  • Read books they love and ask 'how did this writer do this?'
  • Save everything. Even the bad stories.
  • Don't show every story to everyone. Some are just for you.
  • Trust that getting better takes years. That's okay.

Real writers were once kids who thought their stories were kind of bad. They wrote them anyway. That's the whole secret. You already know it.

Feeling unsure means you care. Care is the most important thing. Write today. Even just a little. Tomorrow do it again. That's exactly how famous writers started.
