Course Overview

Overview

You over-explain. You preface. You disclaim. You say ‘this is probably not what you wanted but’ and ‘I’m sure you’ve heard this before but’ and ‘feel free to ignore this but.’ Most of that lives in your writing too — your prose, your bio, your pitches, your show notes. It drains the work. Five weeks of finding the apologies in your words and cutting them, then discovering the writing underneath was always fine. The course is mildly rude (it has to be), very kind (it gets to be), and pointed at the specific kind of self-erasure most thoughtful writers do without noticing. By Friday of week one you will catch yourself apologizing in real time. By week five you’ll have stopped.

What’s inside

  • 5 modules, 25 lessons + bio rewrite kit — surgical, voice-focused, immediate
  • Mindset Maven Test that names YOUR apology fingerprint (you have one and it’s repeating)
  • 5 guided meditations averaging 8 minutes — paired to the voice-on-the-page work
  • Toolkit: the Apology Annotation Worksheet + the Bio Rewrite Kit (the kit is famous)
  • Lifetime access, unlimited retakes — apologies sneak back in; come back when they do
  • Companion blog post per module — public, perfect for sharing with the friend whose bio reads like a hostage note

Who this is for

  • The blogger whose every post opens with ‘I know this isn’t a popular opinion, but’
  • The essayist whose bio reads ‘I write a little’ when she has three books out
  • The podcaster who apologizes for the sound quality in episode 47 of her professionally-produced show
  • The brand storyteller writing for clients confidently and for herself with twelve disclaimers

FAQs

Is this a ‘be confident’ course? Because I’ve tried that.
No. This is a ‘find the specific words you use to apologize and cut them’ course. Mechanical. Specific. Confidence is a side effect, not the goal.

What if my apologies are appropriate?
Module 2 covers genuine vs. reflex apologies. Genuine ones stay. Reflex ones go. The course teaches the distinguishing skill, not blanket deletion.

Will this make my voice harsh?
No. The voice underneath your apologies is usually warmer than the apologetic version. Removing the prefaces doesn’t sharpen the voice — it surfaces it. Most students sound MORE like themselves after the course, not less.

Can this work for brand / client writing?
Yes. Module 4 covers branded voice and how to maintain authorial stance even when you’re writing for a brand. The apology pattern shows up in branded work too, often disguised as ‘humility.’

What’s the Bio Rewrite Kit?
A multi-template kit for rewriting your author bio in five different lengths (5 words, 25, 50, 100, 250 words) without a single apology, hedge, or self-deprecating qualifier. Used by most students as their next pitch / podcast intro / book deal bio.

Can I retake?
Yes. Unlimited. Apologies re-grow every six months. Come back, prune them again.

What one student said

★★★★★

“I bought this for the bio. I thought I needed a one-paragraph fix. The bio rewrite is module five and I did wait for it, but what surprised me was modules one through four — by week three I’d caught myself mid-apology on a podcast episode and stopped, mid-sentence, and finished the sentence WITHOUT the apology. My producer texted me afterward. She said: ‘whatever you’re doing, keep doing it, that was your best opener in months.’ The bio is now also done. Both wins.”

— Reema A., podcaster (Bio she now uses everywhere)
