The opening freeze isn't about craft. It's about an inner stoplight that won't go green — and the operator of that stoplight has names. Past teachers. A parent. An ex. A workshop. A version of you from 2009. We locate the operator. Until the operator is named, the light stays red. Once named, the operator can be sent home.
